Car & motorsport chase shots
Speed is hard to film from the ground. We chase cars and bikes with high-performance FPV drones, low to the road and close to the bodywork, and track them from above with DJI cinema drones for the wide, sweeping shots.
Two kinds of chase
FPV chase: a high-performance FPV drone follows the car a few metres away, matching its speed, sweeping round corners and diving to wheel height. It feels like being in the race, and it's the shot that makes car commercials and race promos feel fast.
Cinema tracking: an Inspire or Mavic flies higher and wider, following the car along a ghat road, a coastline or a track. These are the shots that show the landscape and the line.
What we film
- Car and bike commercials and launch films
- Racing and track days, karting, drag and drift events
- Rallies and off-road events
- Owner films, club drives and automotive content creators
Planning for speed
- Location and closureHigh-speed passes need a closed road or a track. We help you plan the stretch and the run order with the organisers.
- Driver briefingThe driver and pilot agree speeds, lines and signals before the first pass, with radio contact during runs.
- Multiple passesEach move is repeated until it's right, alternating FPV and tracking drones so the car's time is used well.
- Event coverageFor races, we work to the organiser's safety plan and stay clear of marshals and spectator areas.
Motorsport questions
How fast can the FPV drone keep up?
Our racing-class FPV drones keep pace with cars at commercial-shoot speeds and with most track action. For top-speed runs we'll plan the shot so the drone can match the car.
Can you film on public roads?
Chase shots at speed need controlled roads, a track or official permission for a closure. We'll tell you what your location needs and guide you through the drone side of the approvals.
Can you cover a whole race weekend?
Yes. Multi-day event coverage is booked as a package, with enough batteries and drones for practice, qualifying and race days.
Planning a shoot?
Tell us where, when and what you want to capture, and we'll come back with the right crew, drones and a clear list of the permissions you'll need.
